Audience Profile
Audience Profile
There isn’t really a gender specifically targeted by our film. This is because we wanted to enlarge our audience abit by making it suitable for all genders. Our audience is mainly a older teen audience above the ages of 15, this is because it will require us to put an age rating on of 15 or 18 on the film, which will limit the amount of money it can make in the box office. From the research we have undertaken we have found out that most people that will most likely go to the cinemas to watch a horror film will be above the age of 15 and 16/17 to be more precise. Because of this we thought it would be good idea to make it a 15 instead of the 12A. on the other hand it isn’t really gory and gruesome so therefore a rating of 12A would be acceptable and also would enlarge the audience therefore creating more money at the box office.

However our film contains coarse language and graphic scenes
therefore it will get a rating of 15/16 .
Institutional Research
Institutional Research
In order for us to get a good idea about what we must do
when creating/making our film we first looked at horror movie production
studios/companies and see what they do when creating/making a movie and try to
follow what they do in order to achieve a good result.
Lionsgate Films
This company was first created in 1962 as Cinépix Film
Properties but in 1998 it was purchased by Lionsgate Entertainment and renamed
to Lionsgate Films. They are famous for making films such as The Expendables,
The Hunger Games and The Crank Duology, despite all these being action films
they are also known for various horror films like Saw, Hostel and The Haunting
in Connecticut. We used this company as an inspiration because they make/create
a wide variety of movies and most of these are not horror movies so therefore
it helped us to mix horror with other genres.
Twisted Pictures
This company was created in 2004 and it has become a well
know company just because it was the company that created the movie franchise
Saw. As the name says ‘Twisted Pictures’ it is accurate because the movies they
make are gruesome and gory, by this I mean that they are full of blood and
scenes that people find hard to watch. However they were a good film company
for our group to look at because they are focused mainly on horror films that
differ from the conventional horror stereotypes therefore giving inspiration
for our film.
Hammer Films
This company was founded in November 1934 and it is one of
the most influential horror movie studios. This is because they have created
some of the most iconic movie characters that have appeared in multiple films
and most forms of media, including films, books, games, music and comics. Some
of these characters include Dracula, Frankenstein and The Mummy. We used this
film company to help to see if we could create a iconic character to help our film
stand out.
